Deuce Dos!

On October 14, we went to our appointment at the imaging center (which we LOVE, btw). This was a call back/follow up appointment from when we went on September 30 and the tech couldn't see one side of Camden's face to test for clef palate. He cooperated this time and we were in and out within half an hour.

Tanya is super nice and not afraid to explain what we're looking at on the screen. We love her!

Here are some cute pics of his little face and HUGE thumb!

Isn't he just perfect?! Tanya said his lips and mouth look great, so no clef for Cam!

We're waiting for a night this week where we're not super busy so that we can take the photo with the 22 week board. Stay tuned!

Ok, here's the 22 week photo. Can't believe Camden is 1 pound already.

And the fact that I'd rather have chocolate ice cream than leftovers from the Japanese steakhouse is a sure sign that I'm craving it. And I had it for dinner tonight too. Mmm!

Daddy's Week

I walk into the kitchen and see Mark drawing on our dry erase board. I thought he was just playing around and writing a joke or something silly. I was surprised to see that he actually created the board for the 21st week of our pregnancy! I made him add in the "written by daddy" part because I didn't want people to think my handwriting was that bad, although a few ladies told me they thought he had good handwriting so it's a win win either way!

So, Camden is usually pretty active after I eat or if I'm laying down. Before, I could only feel him move from the inside but the other night I put my hand on my belly and could feel it on the inside as well as from the outside. I told Mark to put his hand there and he felt it right away. Pretty cool!

Holy Swoly

So I was lucky enough to not have any swelling for the first half of my pregnancy. Didn't take long after the halfway mark before I literally woke up this morning to swollen ankles and sore feet. I don't understand how it can happen overnight but sheesh it's not pretty! I hope it's not stuck like this for the remainder of the pregnancy. Please please please, swelling...go down!

At first it started with my fingers and the rings were getting tight but now my hands are the least of my worries with these huge CANKLES I got goin on!

I'm hoping for a foot massage tonight...hint hint, baby daddy.

P.S. Can you believe people are liking my FB status/photo about these damn cankles? This is NOT a likable situation, people!

Whooooooooaaaaa...we're halfway there!

Whoooaaa livin' on a prayer!

These first 20 weeks have flown by. I doubt I'll be able to say the same for the next 20 since I'll be bigger, uncomfortable, and probably miserable. At least it's not summer though because I think I'd rather be fat and cold than fat and hot!

We had our 20 week ultrasound appointment yesterday (20w2d). Baby Camden looks great, and is measuring at 20w5d for his head and abdomen and his arms are measuring at 21w. So he's got a big belly, a large head (oh no!), and long arms!

During the 20 week ultrasound, they basically do a full exam of the baby's anatomy. The exam takes about an hour and 15 minutes and they make me come in with a full bladder after drinking 16oz of water. The ultrasound tech was shocked that Camden was giving her all of the hard things first. He cooperated very well when it came to checking the various body parts she needed to check. The tech explained that the black hole in his abdomen was his stomach. If momma woulda eaten breakfast the hole would have shrunk but they told me not to eat because they needed to see an empty stomach on baby, just to make sure he had one.

He definitely didn't cross his legs for this one - of course he is as stubborn as his father and would only do that during the 17 week ultrasound when we were trying to find out the gender but now that we know, he wanted to just verify for us. He is indeed a boy and very proud of it...he was not shy at all when it came to showing off! I think he was showing us so that we were 100% and didn't buy him anything pink. Still saving "Kinsley Brielle" as a name for Camden's little sis one day so don't steal it!

About halfway through the exam she was checking and measuring his big ol' head. When she was pressing on my belly with the wand to read the measurements I could feel her pressing on my bladder. I said "his head must be right on my bladder huh?" and she laughed because it sure was! Then she let me empty my bladder, ahhhh!

The rest of the exam was just checking things like his legs and arms. She had to move him around in different angles in order to get a clear shot of the four chambers of the heart. His heart rate was 128bpm but he wasn't cooperating with the way he was positioned so she had to do a video clip to send to the doctor to show that there were four chambers, you just can't really tell in the photo clip. So she was happy with that and moved onto the next and final check.

She couldn't seem to get Camden to move away from the placenta long enough to get a good view of the one side of his face. She was looking for the skin between the lip and nose to ensure he didn't have clef palate. She saw from one side that he was good to go and she even got an aerial view of the nose and mouth. She said she can tell that he does NOT have it but that my doctor might want the exam to be complete by including the photos of the other side of the face. She didn't want to have us come back so she broke out the 3D sonogram machine and the placenta was still in the way. She tried having me lay on my right side...didn't work. Tried laying me on my left side...still didn't work. So we have to go back to officially complete the exam (because that'll satisfy the doctor) and hopefully when we go he will cooperate and show the other side of his face.

I didn't mind them saying we had to come back because any chance I can get to sneak a peek at our baby boy is awesome! So on October 14, we have an appointment to hopefully confirm that he does not have clef palate. This must be a new procedure with the 20 week exam because my sister didn't have that - or maybe her ultrasound tech didn't tell her because her baby was positioned correctly and she could tell for herself that she didn't have it so no point in telling my sister. I'm glad our tech was talkative and had a great personality, made the visit that more enjoyable.

So enough of me ranting...here are the photos of little baby Camden at 20w2d!

I'm a good listener already!

Each week when we read the updates on Camden it's really neat to see what he's doing new. He's a whole 6 inches long now, that's about a third of a way to the size most babies are when they're born! This week he has developed so much more and can actually hear noises and sounds. Mark says I need to stop cussing so much because he can hear it. I don't think I cuss that much though. Almost every night when we're laying in bed Mark will talk to him, it's pretty cute. The other night when we were listening to his heartbeat on the Doppler, Mark was talking to him and Camden's heart rate immediately changed as if he could hear him. Really neat! I think we'll start reading to him shortly.

I like to move it, move it!

I was taking a break from painting Camden's nursery. Went to lay down on the bed, was really hungry and tired. Thought what I was feeling were hunger pains while I was painting. But, when I was laying down I could feel that it was him moving. It was a totally different feeling than I've ever felt so that's how I knew. Laying in silence and not moving really helped to distinguish the feeling I felt. I was so excited because everyone kept asking me if I'd felt him move yet and it was no fun saying "no not yet". I wish I could describe the feeling but it's nearly impossible. My sister explained it as when you're in the water and something brushes past you, little flutters. He's not kicking yet, just moving and flipping around.

Weekly Board Update

Sorry guys, I've been slacking on posting these on here. I post them on FB and kinda forget about the blog...

Baby Savage loved the beach!

Goodwill is my best friend these days!

It felt like forever from week 16 to week 17 because we were so anxious to find out the gender!

First Outfit

I forgot to take a picture of the onesie we bought Baby Savage (at the time we didn't know if it was a Kinsley or a Camden so we had to get yellow). This is from our OBX vacation in August. It's the only little thing hanging in his closet for now.

Cousin Samantha was nice enough to donate little Aaron's clothes that he no longer fits. There are tons of outfits and blankets. Thanks, Samantha & Aaron! Auntie Dev will be giving Camden all of Jeremiah's clothes and other things he grows out of so he will definitely be all taken care of when it comes to the hand-me-downs. We are so lucky to have family help us out so that we don't have to spend an arm and a leg on these things...especially because they grow so quickly and probably only wear each outfit once! Thanks again XOXO!

Camden is gonna be rocking these boys' styles...

Well...daddy probably won't allow this hand-me-down, since he's already determined that Camden will be a Cheesehead/Packers fan.

Bye Bye Wedding Rings

Almost seems like it happened overnight. At first I thought my rings were feeling tight just because I was hot and sweaty at the time, so I didn't think anything of it. Then, a few hours later when I was cold and they still felt tight that's when I knew my fingers were swelling.

So every time I go to the doctor for a checkup they ask "have you had any swelling?" and this time I'll have to tell them about my fingers. Hopefully my feet don't swell anytime soon because that's gotta be much more miserable than the fingers! Let's hope my blood pressure is still normal. It's never usually high so I think I'll be ok...but definitely don't want preeclampsia!

I kinda feel bad because I can't wear my wedding rings or the new anniversary ring that Mark bought me last week for our 1 year wedding anniversary. Well I probably could, on my pinky fingers though.

Well, please keep your unswollen (lucky you) fingers crossed and pray that I don't get too much fluid retention and it doesn't get too bad! I should probably lay off the chips and salty foods. I already drink lots of water so I'm sure that helps. I'll do anything I can do to reduce the swelling.
